Hello and welcome to the website of the shed shop

What's so special about a Shed Shop Shed

Where and how you buy your shed can have a dramatic effect on how satisfied you'll be with your final choice. Without seeing the actual shed you're interested in it can be hard to judge if the size or shape is right, and, most important of all it's harder to tell if you'll be satisfied with the standard of construction and finish.

It's much easier to judge if a shed is the one you want, or not, if you can walk round it and look it over from all angles, inspect the materials it's made of at close quarters, walk inside and see if it has enough headroom and so on.

Of course, you can try and buy direct from a factory, or go to a large garden centre, but standing around on a wet and windy site trying to find someone to help you can blur your judgment as well as take the fun out of choosing.

At The Shed Shop we offer a better alternative. You'll find the most popular models in stock at any time and they're all under cover. And at The Shed Shop you'll find good old fashioned friendly service from someone who knows what they're talking about.

Choosing the right style

Selecting the right building isn't complicated but it's worth spending a few minutes thinking about the details even if all you need is a very basic garden store.

There are two basic types of construction. The Apex roof style is best for 'stand alone' sites or larger buildings. The single slope Pent roof is more suited to buildings that will sit against a fence or wall.

You then need to determine the best position for the door and how many windows you need and where they should be positioned.

We have dozens of standard styles, in a wide range of popular sizes, that fit the bill for most people but if you really want to go to town we offer a unique made to measure service.

Any shape, size or design

If you don't see anything you like in our standard range you can start from scratch and design your own. You specify the size, shape, number of windows, position of doors and so on, and we'll make it.

Even if you don't need something radically different this ability to alter detailed aspects can still be useful. You can site the door in relation to an existing path, or away from the prevailing wind for instance. Or you can alter the position of the windows for maximum light, for privacy or to take in a good view.

This is a unique service and it doesn't cost you any more to alter our standard designs in this way. In fact, our prices are less than you'd have to pay for the materials if you tried to build the same shed yourself.

How we make them

Timber - We only use timber from Scandinavia and Canada, because timber grown in a very cold climate has less sap so it warps and shrinks less.

Framework - The framework in our buildings is always made from 2"x2" timber, and just as importantly, the upright supports are never more than 2'4" apart.

Cladding - We use only tough, weather resistant, machine rebated 'shiplap' cladding. Not only does this ensure a better looking finish, but it keeps out the draughts too.

Headroom - All of our sheds are 6' 11" high at their peak and approximately 6' at their lowest point, a factor that is important if you are going to use one as a potting shed or workshop.

Windows - All of our buildings are supplied with glass and window beading. Window sizes and positions can be adjusted to suit your requirements and additional fixed or opening hinged frames can be specified if required.

Roofing - Believe it or not, the worst enemy of the roof on a shed is the sun. We use a heavy duty 20kg, green mineral felt on our roofs. Cheaper felts are ok as long as it's raining, but they 'craze' or 'crack' in hot sun, and then spring leaks in no time.

Floors - All of our sheds have a complete floor as standard, it's not an extra. All flooring is 5/8" timber on solid 2"x2" bearers which resist sagging.

Fixings - All exterior nails and hinges are galvanised for long life and to prevent unsightly rusty heads, or rust stains spoiling the finish.

Finishes - All timbers are treated during the manufacturing process which saves you the time and trouble of messing about with preservatives - not to mention the cost. In addition you can choose from a wide range of colour preservatives to harmonise the building with it's surroundings, or to create an interesting colour scheme in its own right.

Security - We supply a fitted lock and key for improved security.
