The
SOVEREIGN 30 year Protection Scheme
SOVEREIGN
is the market leader in the field of
chemical damp proof coursing and remedial
timber treatment.
This
reputation has been gained for the quality of
it's products and also for the support and care offered
under the Sovereign 30 Year Protection Scheme
Guarantee. Over half a million satisfied property
owners are testimony to the effectiveness of
the scheme.
The
Sovereign 30 Year Protection Scheme Guarantee
is offered by remedial contractors who have been
vetted by Sovereign. Only when we are satisfied that
they are capable of carrying out work to a consistently
high standard do we allow contractors to apply
to become Sovereign Approved Contractors. Regular
site visits ensure that standards of workmanship
and customer care are maintained.
Sovereign
believe that it is essential that specifiers and
the public at large are protected. Even the most
conscientious and meticulous contractor may not be
available to service his guarantee due to circumstances
beyond his control. In this event Sovereign intervene.
Once the Sovereign 30 Year Protection Scheme
Guarantee has been issued the property is covered
against a recurrence of the original problem for a full
30 years. This cover is initially supplied by the
contractor, however, if he is no longer in business,
Sovereign will arrange for the necessary retreatment,
to be carried out at no further cost to the householder,
by another Sovereign Approved Contractor. All work
will be completed to Sovereign Specifications at all times.
This will include, in the case of chemical damp proofing,
removal and reinstatement of defective plaster. This
protection is provided for a one off payment of 5% plus
VAT, of the original contract value (including rendering),
subject to a minimum charge of £25 plus VAT.
The
Sovereign 30 Year Protection Scheme Guarantee is
used by Local Authorities, Housing Associations,
Buildings Societies and Banks, as well as many
thousands of householders.
For
your Total Protection we strongly recommend
that you specify the Sovereign 30 Year Protection
Scheme Guarantee.
Alternative
guarantees exist, offering varying degrees
of cover, however there is usually a drawback. Always
request a copy and read the small print.
Insurance
backing is often quoted for guarantees.
We all have insurance for ourselves, our property
and our vehicles, but what happens if we have a bad
claims record? The premiums rise! In the case of
insurance backed guarantees they are covered by
term assurance renewable every two or three years.
If there is a high claims record the underwriter may refuse
to reinsure at the end of the term. All the householder is left
with is a percentage of the original premium, based
on the
unexpired period of guarantee. This could amount
to a few pounds on a contract worth hundreds or
even thousands, and the house holder is left with
no cover.
Some
guarantees are limited in what they cover.
For example, in chemical damp proofing, replastering
is almost always essential. Many companies exclude
this from the guarantee. Unfortunately, replastering
can often represent well over half the original
contract value.
Other
guarantees exist which give even less cover,
often only remaining operational whilst the contractor is
still in business. In these instances they become
worthless if the contractor ceases to trade.
In
the unlikely event of a claim against a Sovereign
30 year Protection Sheme Guarantee, the original
Sovereign Approved Contractor should be contacted
in the first instance. If the contractor has ceased to
trade then claims, together with the original guarantee,
should be forwarded to our Guarantee Claims Department
at our Head Office.
An
initial inspection of the documentation will be
made. At this stage an inspection fee is payable, prior
to a site visit taking place, to establish the validity of
the claim. Unfortunately, many alleged claims are received
where to problem is unrelated to the work guaranteed.
They may simply be as a result of poor maintenance,
roof leaks, condensation ect. At this point we will issue
a report and advise on the action to take.
If
the claim is found to be valid, then a Sovereign
Approved Contractor will be asked to carry out the
necessary rectification work as speedily as possible to
the householders convenience. In this instance the
initial inspection fee will be returned in full.
Disputes
can occasionally occur, however, in such an
event Sovereign is prepared to involve an independent
arbitrator whose decision will be binding on all parties.
The
Sovereign 30 Year Protection Scheme Guarantee is
available only from Sovereign Approved Contractors. A list
of all contractors is held at our Head Office, available on
request. In addition they may be found advertising under
Damp proofing and Woodworm and Dry Rot Control in your
local Yellow Pages.
The Sovereign 30 Year Protection Scheme Guarantee
is administered by Sovereign Chemical Industries Limited.
It is supported by the assets of Sovereign which is part of
one of the largest chemical companies in the world.
Always
specify the SOVEREIGN 30 Year Protection
Scheme Guarantee for long term peace of mind on
remedial contracts.
