Early autumn is an ideal time to plant biennials and perennials as the ground is still warm enough to encourage root growth. The soil is not usually as dry as in summer and this means plants become established quickly. And at this time of year the weather is still pleasant enough to make gardening outdoors pleasurable.
Shrub Cutting
Semi-ripe cuttings of many shrubs will generally toot readily if taken now. Semi-ripe cuttings have hardened wood at the base but are still soft at the tip. Root them in pots or in a cold frame.
Those to try include Berberis, Cotoneaster, Flowering Current, Forsythia, Mock Orange (Philadelphus) and Weigela.

We are delighted to present a spectacular Christmas Fantasy, Our theme this year being inspired by a magical book & film: We may not be the biggest, but our customers are telling us it is the best they have seen, even surpassing big London stores!
Browse over exquisite, tasteful & unusual decorations to adorn your tree. If you haven’t a tree choose one from our vast range of artificial trees – black, white, frosted, green, blue / green and even new mirrored trees (in sizes 3ft to 8ft depending on variety) Not your scene then try a fibre optic tree to light up the long winter evenings, Real trees will be also be available from the end of November. If you can’t be bothered with the hassle of lights then we also have a large selection of pre-lit trees, just plug in and the job is done.

Scented candles, tea-lights & pot pourri will add to the ambience you wish to create. Table runners, bottle covers & dinner candles to adorn your table. Plain or decorated garlands & wreaths to enhance your room, swags & mantel runners for your fireplace. Animated animals, wind up & battery operated toys, novelties, teddies and soft toys will keep the children entranced (and the adults too).
Our range of fibre optic villages & skating scenes offer an alternative to a tree. We have a fantastic indoor/outdoor lighting display with fibre optic trees for indoor & outdoor use. As our display is continually changing there is no excuse not to visit more than once – you never know what you might miss! |
| Our designer florist will be creating a fabulous range of arrangements & table centers, and will also be on hand to offer advice & ideas if you wish to ‘have a go yourself’. Take advantage of our in-house vouches which will be on offer from mid-November at a discounted price.
