CBT A CBT taken after 1 Feburary 2001 is valid for 2 years and must be obtained before you are allowed unsupervised onto the public highway. Your CBT will commence with a comprehensive lecture on all aspects of motorcycling for the new rider, including the new theory test. You will then be made familiar with the machine on which you will be trained. An instructor will take you through the controls and show you how to start, stop and generally handle a motorcycle. On-site practical training will be carried out under close supervision, after which, if all goes well, you will be taken out onto the public highway to test your new skills in a more realistic enviroment, again under close supervision. When you have satisfactorily completed all sections of the CBT you will be issued a DL196 pass certificate (the DSA charge for this certificate is included in the price quoted for your CBT). Your instructor will only issue your DL196 when he is satisfied that you are in full control of your machine and competent.
