Even
though, because of the size of the school, we have relatively
few parents to call upon, the school is very well supported
by its Parents, Teachers and Friends Association. An unusually
high proportion of parents serves on the committee with
others joining in for its various activities.
Not
only has it raised large amounts of money to help the school
by buying items such as computers, technology equipment
and funding transport, it has also organised fun days and
discos for the children.
All
parents are members and we very much appreciate their involvement.

Helping
at Home
We
believe it is important for parents and schools to work
together. The most important thing is your attitude. If
you take in regular interest in your children's work and
offer praise and support, then growing self confidence will
lead to greater enjoyment and study improvement.
Listen
to your children read. Talk about what is in the story and
enjoy it together.
Some
practical suggestions:
1.
Listen with interest to what your child has to tell you.
Talk to your child and answer questions patiently.
2. Encourage your child to do practical things at home.
3. Take your child to the library and places of interest.
4. Provide materials so that your child can draw, crayon,
paint or make models.
5. Play games with your child.
6. Control the amount of time your child watches T.V, so
that he or she has time to do other activities.
7. Encourage your child to have interests and hobbies.
8. Ensure that your child has adequate sleep.
Before
your child starts school it would be helpful if he or she
could:
·
dress and undress.
· do up buttons and zips.
· use cutlery.
· use the toilet properly.
· tidy up.
· count to ten.
· recognise own name.
· put on shoes.
· hang up clothes.
· try different foods.
· wash and dry hands
· blow nose.
The junior children will have regular homework and will
also take their reading books home, bring work home to complete
or research a topic.
