Roller Garage Doors

Roller shutter doors are very popular, and offer several distinct advantages over the conventional up and over design.

They do not swing out when operated, allowing close parking right up to the door. A roller door is inherently much more secure, in that the edges of the door are enclosed in steel guides from top to bottom, on the back of the opening. This also gives improved protection against draughts and water ingress.

There is no encroachment on the roof space when the door is open. The door coils up directly above the lintel, and does not need any other space under the roof.

Roller doors are always made to measure, to fit the exact aperture width and height. Both manual and automatic roller doors can be provided – the manual doors are easy to operate because their weight is counterbalanced by springs inside the coil. Manual doors can also be automated later if required.

If you have no other means of entry to the garage, such as a pedestrian side door, then an automatic door will have to be fitted with an external manual over-ride, to cope with any power failures. This will allow the door to be raised and lowered manually until the power is restored. These manual over-rides are lockable, to maintain security.
